What Is an Atlantic Skimmer and How Does It Work?

Posted on May 24, 2021

If you are looking to have a more aesthetically pleasing pond, you should consider getting an aquarium or at least installing a water feature such as the Atlantic skimmer. With this kind of system, you can be assured that your pond will remain clean and you’ll be able to enjoy it for many years to come. However, with so many types of systems available in the market today, you need to be aware of the pros and cons of different models before actually settling on one. Here are some features that every system must have.

Atlantic skimmers are usually the most common and easy to install. Triton 3-pack diverters are the only manifold specially designed for pond-free garden pond installation. The 1-inch inlet is able to prevent the runoff of pond water into the drainage system, thus delivering maximum water volume to all three outlets. Easypro technology makes this kind of unit very convenient to install.

The vortex tube allows for easy cleaning of large debris such as leaves, twigs, and other garden debris. This type of system allows you to clean debris at any time of the day without waiting for the fish to eat the leftovers. Large debris will pass right through the filter to the drainage and this prevents dead algae from accumulating on the pump and causing poor water clarity.

The GSI Outlet System is the most commonly installed. It installs inside the pond and works as a leaf guard. When the leaves begin to fall, the vortex tube transfers the water to the basket. The GSI Outlet System uses a very effective and simple leaf guard technology. This is the perfect system to use when you don’t want to mess with cleaning out the pond each week.

The Sump Film is designed for just about any size pond. The Sump is designed to allow for water garden design while maintaining proper pond care and cleaning. The Sump is installed inside the overflow pan of your garden and catches all the excess debris that would fall into the pond. The Sump Film is an external filter which traps unwanted dirt, debris, and plants, keeping your garden free of any potential problems.

The V-Net filter has been designed with a unique water clarity filtering method. The unique v-net construction allows for a much larger surface area than traditional charcoal filters. This means that there is more time to do other things while your water clarity continues to improve. The GSI Outlet System and the V-Net Filter are two great technologies to consider when you need the highest possible filtration in your ponds.

If you have a lot of debris in your pond, and you don’t want to spend a lot of money on getting rid of it, the GSI pump can be the answer. The GSI pump is a simple and effective way to remove excess debris from your pond. The GSI pump uses suction to draw dirt and debris from the bottom of the basket and pumps it to the surface. Suction alone is not enough, so the GSI works with a rotary brush which scrubs the dirt from the bottom of the basket, removing it from your ponds.

Most of our professional waterscapes install the Atlantic skimmer at both the pond’s base and at the top. This gives them greater versatility and makes maintenance a breeze. You can use the pump as a primary filter for your water’s while the skimmer works as a secondary filter for smaller particles. You can also use the auto fill device to automatically inflate your pool or house, and then use the suction as a secondary filter to clean away larger debris in your waters.
